FullTilt Poker launched back in 2004 and became one of the most popular poker rooms around, it’s cartoon style graphics and avatars proving immensely popular with recreational players.

However, after they continued accepting US players after the law changed in 2006, they finally got held to account in 2011 and closed when they were unable to pay all their players back after the US authorities got involved.

PokerStars then stepped in and bought the site, paying all the players in the process, and they migrated all FullTilt players to join theirs in shared liquidity in 2016.

The PokerStars brand coupled with the FullTilt software still mean this is one of the best places to play poker online.

This is our Online Poker Review for FullTilt Poker.

The former owners got into trouble for refusing to pull out of the US market They are now backed by the largest poker site in the world and they certainly have the funds to pay all players should they need to.

They have proven their staying power. Despite previous events, we have no hesitation in recommending the trustworthiness of FullTilt and owners PokerStars.

FullTilt Poker Bonuses

FullTilt Poker offers all new players a 100% bonus on their 1st deposit of up to £400. The bonus is released in £10 increments and you have 4 months to release it before it expires which is longer than many sites.

If you prefer, you can get an extra £20 of tournament tickets on your 1st deposit of £20 or more. This is instead of the match bonus and is given over the first 6 days after you deposit for the first time.

They also have a rewards scheme similar to PokerStars giving you a progress bar with targets to hit. Each time you do you will receive a chest loaded with different rewards.

They have The Deal promotion whereby you can turn your StarsCoins into a big win. There is a progressive jackpot and many smaller prizes.

Since they joined with traffic from PokerStars, it has more players than many of the other big sites combined.

This leads to thousands of players entering tournaments and cash games. You will never have to wait long to get a game of your choice and some of the tournament prize-pools are huge.

Cash game players normally exceed 10,000 on average each week. The peak time is around 8pm GMT and can often see anywhere between 15,000 and 20,000 players.

They have the same tournaments as PokerStars, so that means lots and lots with huge jackpots to be won.

Every Sunday there is the Sunday Million with a $1m prize pool guaranteed. There are satellites running to it each week so you can win your ticket for much less than a direct buy-in.

They also have the annual WCOOP – World Championship of Online Poker. That had over $116m in guarantees last year, over $110m in Guarantees during their annual SCOOP – Spring Championship of Online Poker. They run regular satellites to land-based events such as the WSOP, EPT and their own land-based tournaments with plenty of money up for grabs.

There are regular freerolls and guarantees every day as well.

There are a wide variety of deposit options as you would expect from a site the size of FullTilt. These include debit/credit card, Neteller, Skrill, Paypal and Entropay.

Cashouts via e-wallets are normally processed the same day. Those back to cards or bank accounts can take 3 to 5 working days to appear.

FullTilt Poker Software

The software is the only thing that sets FullTilt and PokerStars apart. FullTilt is very much aimed at the recreational player and keeps many of the features that made it popular back in the 2000s.

The lobby is very similar to PokerStars and offers everything you need. This includes the ability to hide full tables and completed tournaments, see tables by game type and stakes.

Whilst the tables are slightly different from the FullTilt tables of their heyday that large cartoon avatars that disappeared every time someone left a hand, it follows the same theme and has a large selection of characters available.

The table also has the usual features such as note-making facility, the ability to see your best hand, change the layout and card backs plus you can move the table view to suit you.

Customer Support

Like PokerStars, FullTilt Poker only has email support which is the main downside to the room.

They do tend to answer quickly. However, it is no substitute for live chat or phone support whereby you can get an instant reply to a query.

There is a comprehensive help section which contains the answer to many generic questions a player may have.

FullTilt Poker is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, considered by many to be the best jurisdiction for sites to use.
